Edward W. Allred
Prior to becoming a neutral, Mr. Allred managed and successfully resolved corporate negotiations, pre-litigation disputes, and litigated matters for over 30 years including positions at prominent law firms such as Watts Guerra LLP and Baker & McKenzie, and corporations including Valero Energy Corporation. He successfully handled a wide range of legal matters from contracts and employment disputes to complex national and international class actions, commercial litigation, and intellectual property rights protection. The bottom line is that he knows what it takes to get the most complex disputes resolved.

Mr. Allred successfully resolved many notable cases, including the recently settled In re Bobcat Fire Litigation in Los Angeles, California, the nationwide Syngenta GMO Corn Litigation (representing over 60,000 corn farmers against a foreign seed company that prematurely released a product into the market); In re BP Oil Spill Litigation (representing commercial fishermen and shrimping industry members for business losses resulting from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill); Boon v. CIGNA (contract dispute alleging fraud in the insurance industry seeking in excess of $100,000,000); Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corp. v. United Technologies Pratt & Whitney (take-nothing verdict for defendant in antitrust case seeking $1B in damages); EEOC v. Eagle Global Logistics Litigation (multiple disputes including EEOC Commissioners Charge, national class actions, and nationwide DOL charge regarding the payment of overtime and classification of exempt employees, as well as federal litigation filed by the company against the EEOC to enjoin an arbitrary process and compel final determination on charges); Pickens, et al. v. Shell Technology Ventures (appellate court affirmed summary judgment for employer in international class action litigation); Semiconductor Equipment Specialist Inc., et al. v. Applied Materials, Inc. (antitrust litigation seeking in excess of $100,000,000); Opus Aviation, et al. v. Raburn, et al. (aircraft consumers defrauded out of purchase money deposits, exceeding $200,000,000); Longview Energy Co. v. Riley-Huff Energy Group, LLC, et al. (fiduciary litigation resulting in 2012’s second-largest jury verdict in Texas, valued over $500,000,000), and numerous construction defect and negligence cases representing a large refinery company and it’s subsidiaries, cumulatively seeking in excess of $1 billion.
Mr. Allred routinely authors and presents papers on numerous topics related to the resolution of disputes, commercial litigation, and creative fee structures aimed at lowering the client’s risk and litigation funding costs, and he often guest-teaches law school classes on litigation topics.
Mr. Allred has been recognized for his achievements through numerous awards and recognitions, including membership in Texas Monthly’s Rising Star and Super Lawyer, America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators, Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and Million Dollar Advocates Forum, annually from 2005 to present.
In addition to his legal work, Mr. Allred currently or previously served on various corporate and charitable Boards of Directors, including: Board of Directors Member and Secretary, BTX Schools, Inc.; Vice President, San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association; Board Member, YMCA Texas Law and Government in Schools Program; Board Member and Editor, Houston Bar Association (including its monthly publication); Director, San Antonio Young Lawyers Association. He is a member of the San Antonio Bar Foundation, San Antonio Bar Association, and the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys.
Despite the above, Ed’s most important work isn’t in the office – it’s at home with his wife, Rachel, their three sons, and one daughter.
